My 4 year old loves these books because they have great illustrations, and upbeat storylines that are just on his level. I love them because they have given him new ways of looking at the world around us — appreciating it, understanding how interconnected everything is, not taking it for granted — without being preachy or gloomy like so many “eco” books for kids are. These books are happy, cheerful, playful — perfect. For kids this age, the most important thing is to inspire them to LOVE nature, and appreciate how important and precious it is…not lecture them about recycling or making them lose sleep about endangered animals. If you raise them to love nature, an eco-friendly attitude will come naturally, as they grow up. These books are great for instilling that love of nature! (I also love the “green” parent tips at the end — I’ve been surprised at how easy it’s been to implement the ones I’ve tried!)
