Inspired to talk to your kids about cash but not sure where to start? This Money Smart workshop is all about teaching adults how to teach kids about personal finance. Featured speaker Lisa Helme, Director of Financial Literacy and Communications at the Vermont State Treasurer’s office, begins the night by addressing five core areas of financial education. Participants then break into small groups where topics like allowances, budgets, credit cards and savings are covered in detail and grown-ups can get specific feedback about their concerns. Helme says that parents know more than they think they do about managing their green; this event demystifies the process of sharing that wisdom. Everyone leaves with worksheets to take home and explore with their youngsters. Childcare and snacks are provided and a door prize for $100 to a restaurant of your choice will be given away by evening’s end. This is a night out with a real pay off.
