Escape to the islands for ice skating, dog-sled rides, a roaring bonfire and a chili cook-off at Great Ice in Grand Isle on Saturday and Sunday.

  • Watch athletes of all ages and abilities slide, grind and jib to their hearts' content at Jay Peak's USASA Rail Jam on Saturday. (Event rescheduled from January.)

  • Bundle up for a moonlit hike on the Audubon Center's trails, where you'll listen for owls and search for animal tracks on Saturday night.

  • Live vicariously through hearty, costumed swimmers as they jump into Lake Champlain at 11 a.m. on Saturday to raise money for the Special Olympics as part of the Penguin Plunge. Then walk up the hill to Church Street to participate in ice golf and snowshoeing demos and marvel at ice sculptures during  Burlington's Winter Weekend
