Re: “Vermont Day School

We have two sons who have attended Vermont Day School, and we can't say enough about the dynamic curriculum, experienced faculty, and the loving energy of this special place. Our youngest child was sinking in the third grade at public school. His dyslexia went undiagnosed and his self esteem was truly suffering. Within weeks of moving him to VDS the light in his eyes returned. He received the support he needed, and the teachers were able to individualize the curriculum to meet him where he was, which in some areas was well below grade level. With additional support, both at school and with a specialist, by the end of third grade we were seeing a confident, capable learner who felt good about himself. He looked forward to going to school, and he was challenged and held in the way any parent would want for their child. Seeing such a rapid transition with your youngest child, we opted to send our eldest son to VDS for middle school (6th, 7th and 8th grade.) Again, we were impressed by the energy and light that surrounded his enthusiasm for learning. He no longer said things like "I hate school", which was heartbreaking to hear on a weekly, almost daily basis at his former school. He is now heading into his freshman year this fall with stellar math and writing skills. He is a critical thinker and can self advocate. He is well prepared both academically and socially for the challenges high school will bring. We feel all children should have access to such a fabulous, engaging education, and are blessed to be part of the VDS community.
