Transportation: MobilityShare helps families

Sharing is a key concept for kids. Now entire families will find it easier get in on the act with MobilityShare, a collaboration between CarShare Vermont and the Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity. Fifty eligible families get free membership to CarShare Vermont and reduced driving rates — $3.50 per hour — as well as free training on saving money, smart spending and financial counseling from CVOEO's Growing Money program coaches. Families need wheels, but getting and maintaining a car is costly. Now they can do errands "for two hours for less than 10 bucks, with more freedom and flexibility than taking the bus," said Annie Bourdon, CarShare Vermont's founder and executive director.
